Caring For Your Sports Guard
Your custom sports guard protects your teeth, jaw, and smile from impact during activity, far better than a boil-and-bite from the store. A little care keeps it clean and fitting well. Here is how to use and maintain it.
Using It
- Wear it every time you play or practice, not just for games.
- Rinse before and after each use with cool water.
- It should feel snug, holding in place without being forced.
Cleaning It
- Brush it gently with a toothbrush and cool water after use. No toothpaste, which scratches.
- Let it air dry with the case open before storing.
- Rinse with mouthwash occasionally to keep it fresh.
Storing & Replacing
- Store it dry in its vented case, never loose in a bag.
- No hot water and never leave it in a hot car. Heat warps it and ruins the fit.
- Replace it if it cracks, no longer fits, or after a big growth change in younger athletes.
- Keep it away from pets. Dogs love to chew them!
Call Us If
- It feels sharp, rubs, or hurts your gums or teeth.
- It no longer fits or has cracked or warped.
- You took a hard hit to the mouth, get checked even if it looks okay.
- Anything feels off with the fit.
How To Make Your Sports Guard Last
A clean, well-kept guard protects you better and lasts longer. Simple care keeps it in shape.
- Clean and air dry it after every use, then store it in its case to prevent odor and bacteria.
- Keep it away from heat, which is what warps a guard and ruins the fit.
- Bring it to your checkups so we can check the fit, especially for growing athletes.
Take care of it and it will protect your smile season after season!
