Using Your Take-Home Whitening
Your custom whitening trays let you brighten your smile on your own schedule, gently and effectively. Used correctly, they deliver beautiful results with minimal sensitivity. Here is how to get the most from them.
How To Use Your Trays
- Brush first, then place a small dot of gel in each tooth space in the tray. A little goes a long way.
- Seat the tray and wipe away any gel that oozes onto the gums with a clean finger.
- Wear as directed, usually 30 minutes to an hour, or overnight for the gel we provided.
- Rinse the trays with cool water after and store them dry in their case.
The First Two Weeks
- Results build gradually over daily use. Most people see their goal in 1 to 2 weeks.
- Limit staining foods and drinks while actively whitening to speed your results.
Sensitivity
- Mild cold sensitivity is normal and temporary.
- If teeth get sensitive, whiten every other day instead of daily, or shorten your wear time.
- A sensitivity toothpaste such as Sensodyne, used daily, helps a lot. You can even put some in the tray.
Call Us If
- Sensitivity is severe or does not settle when you space out treatments.
- Your gums become sore, white, or irritated from gel contact.
- A tray does not fit right or feels like it is rubbing.
- You are not seeing results after consistent use, or anything concerns you.
How To Keep Your Smile Bright
Your trays are reusable, so you hold the power to keep your smile bright for years. A little upkeep goes a long way.
- Touch up now and then, a night or two every few months, to refresh your shade as needed.
- Rinse with water or use a straw with coffee, tea, wine, and dark foods to limit new stain.
- Keep your trays clean and your cleanings regular. Professional cleanings remove surface stain and keep results looking fresh.
Keep your trays and a little gel on hand, and a bright smile is always within reach!
